The W800i takes significant advantage of SyncML for synchronising PIM information. ScheduleWorld is fully compatible with the Sony Ericsson W800i.

[edit] Configuring the mobile phone

• Enter the 'Synchronization' menu on the device. This can be reached either in 'Menu' > 'Organizer' or 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'Connectivity'
• Add a new synchronization account, name it ScheduleWorld (or as per your convenience) with the following settings...
  • Server address: http://sync.scheduleworld.com/funambol/ds
  • Username: <your numeric ScheduleWorld ID>
  • Password: <your ScheduleWorld password>
  • Connection: <select the internet connection profile you would normally use to browse the internet with your phone, e.g. O2 WAP>
  • Remote initiation: Always ask
  • Sync. interval: <choose as per your convenience/usage>
  • Applications: [ ]Contacts [ ]Calendar [ ]Tasks [ ]Notes <select one or more as per your requirement>

[edit] Configuring ScheduleWorld

After the device (W800i) connects to ScheduleWorld for the first time, more detailed options for the device can be configured from the web interface in the ScheduleWorld 'Preferences' section (link available in Calendar day or month view).

In the 'General Preferences' section, each SyncML device can be configured by clicking on the 'Edit Settings' button against the client ID. You will see the IMEI of your W800i mobile phone here. Clicking on 'Edit Settings' button will open a new a window 'Edit SyncML Device' with four configuration tabs.

ScheduleWorld has been developed with advanced PIM software like Outlook in mind. Some devices like the W800i will however not support all of the phont number types that such software (and hence ScheduleWorld support). Depending on all the number types that the W800i supports, the following settings are valid:

  • Home Fax: NO
  • Cell: YES
  • Other Voice: YES
  • Other Fax: NO
  • Pager: NO
  • ISDN: NO
  • Car: NO
  • Preferred/Primary: YES
• TimeZone: <choose as per your time zone>
• Charset: UTF-8 (the default setting)
• Ignores DST: NO (the W800i is DST-aware, even if your are not in a DST-affected time zone)
• All-Day 00:00-23:59: YES (the W800i can identify such events as 'all-day' events)
• Localtime: YES
• Bday yyyymmdd: YES
• Description: <choose a descriptive name for your reference> (this does not affect synchronisation performance in any way)
• Sync PHOTO: YES Affects the 'card' URI/Database only
• Event and ToDo: NO For Symbian devices only.
• No Encoding: NO (the W800i is compatible with encoded data)
• Add DST Offset: NO (During standard time)

[edit] Known Issues

1. The 'Street' field for contact (home) address in the W800i has a size restriction of about 24 characters. Synchronisation from SW to device will cause any additional characters in this field to be simply clipped. This however, will not affect future sync sessions and information will be intact on SW.

Although most W-series and K-series phones of the same generation as the W800i will have hugely similar settings as described above, the following list of phones are fully compatible:

[edit] What To Do When Your Phone Doesn't Sync Perfectly

First of all, don't be alarmed. The good news is that we've been analyzing client bugs and building workarounds for years. The process to resolve your issue is:

1. Email support@ScheduleWorld.com or post to a relevant forum.
2. Include your SWorld account ID (number), or the email you signed up with.
3. Include a description of the problem along with the time and timezone of your sync.
4. If you can include a client debug log please do.
